Carbonation test

Reference: HR507
Standards: EN 13295

This test allows measuring the depth of carbonation through the surface of the concrete.

The set consists of:

– Phenolphthalein solution (1000 ml)
– Distilled water solution (5000 ml)
– Vernier caliper
– Two 250 ml wash bottles

The surface of the concrete sample to be tested is sprayed with a phenolphthalein solution to detect the loss of alkalinity associated with carbonation. The risk of carbonation-induced corrosion can be measured if it is correlated with the concrete to be reinforced.
