Casagrande manual spoon NF

Reference: SU175

The Casagrande spoon method is used as an alternative to the cone penetrometer to determine the moisture content at which clay soils transition from a plastic state to a solid state (Liquid Limit).

They evaluate the relationship between the moisture percentage of soil samples and the number of blows required to close a furrow made in the soil; therefore, they determine when soil clays change from a plastic state to a liquid state.

The equipment consists of a removable bronze spoon that falls into a hard rubber base thanks to a cam system and a stroke counter.

With a bakelite base and chrome-plated spoon according to French standards.
